Heroic Philosophy
This past project has made me realize that there are so many people who are heroes in their own way. I was really proud of my outcome of the zine because I put so much effort. When I showed my final zine to my sister (my hero) she had a huge smile on her face as she started reading. It made me feel accomplished and good about myself for making her happy. Me and my sister are very close to each other and making this about her was a way of me saying thank you. She means so much to me and has done so much for me, so making this for her made her feel very appreciated.
During this project, I grew in many areas. I finished quite early and I was always there to help. I grew in this area because I was actually more flexible and more open into helping my classmates. When Ms. Sara was busy and someone needed help, she would send them my way and I would help them. I would help them with folding and stapling their zines. Another area I grew in was giving critique. I enjoyed giving critique on zines because I liked helping people with the page layouts and things that should be on the page. At the end of the project we got together as a team and gave recognition's. I got a recognition from someone I helped and that made me feel really happy and made me realize that me helping them was for the better for them and I hope to grow more in this area.
An area that was a stretch for me during this project was time management. The software that we used to create the zines couldn't be downloaded at home, so the zines had to be done during school or after. I have after school activities such as soccer games and practices so I was unable to stay and work on it after school. I knew I had to get it done during the time given to work on it so I had to make sure I was focused and doing my work. I had to make sure I made the right choices into sitting with people who will let me get my work done. This was a stretch because I enjoyed sitting and talking to my friends and sometimes I wasn't always able to get my work done, but I still managed to work hard and get it done before the deadline and as a matter of fact I was one of the first five to finished first.
An area that I would like to improve on is my writing. Reading and writing is a struggle for me. I enjoyed writing the heroic philosophy because it was about my personal hero and so it was easy for me to put all my thoughts about that topic into the philosophy. The first time I turned it in I didn't get a very good score on it, so I got critiqued and was able to refine it and turn it in again. After I turned it in the second time I got a really good score. Taking my first and final grade i was able to get extra points called a growth grade which was points for how I grew in my writing.
